Community Service Project – “Jared Boxes” for children in the hospital
The Jared Box Project is a national program that develops boxes of age appropriate toys and activities. Jared was a frequently hospitalized patient as a child and while in the hospital he found that the toys that were used to entertain pediatric patients were not age appropriate and were limited. Jared loved to play UNO and it is requested that each box has an UNO game in it. (Iowa will supply the UNO games.) For more information about the Jared Box Project, see www.thejaredbox.com.
*Please bring three (3) toys for boy and three (3) for a girl, between ages 2-10. These toys must fit in a plastic shoe box. Ideas of toys can be coloring books, colored pencils, markers, bubbles, story books, pinwheels, cars, small dolls, and any type of small toy.
Silent Auction –
Bring any white elephant item wrapped for the silent auction table. Bid throughout the weekend. Bid high and bid often!! We kindly ask you to keep your active bids limited to 8 packages so that many people can have fun in the unwrapping Saturday night. You may bid on as many different packages as you like to increase the bids, we just ask to limit yourself so that the final winning bids are spread out and everyone can feel like a winner.
Camp-
The cost of camp is $90.00 (This includes 4 meals: 3 on Saturday and 1 Sunday breakfast and two nights lodging). Friday night there will be a dessert bar and the rest of the weekend snacks will be provided. There will be prorated meals/lodging for part time attendance.
Bedding is not provided; you will need to bring your complete bedding needs and toiletries.
We are in a cabin setting with bunk beds; we are planning to use all the lower bunks first, so plan to arrive early. We have tentative plans to have National Membership Director Michael Martin with us this weekend and possibly an appearance from National President Ed Luttrell. There will also be workshops presented by some of our own Grange leaders
