A News Release from
Flora Grange
A family, community-service organization
based in Flora Township in southern Boone County
Flora Grange is celebrating its 100th Anniversary of community service to the Boone County area in 2010. The date is Saturday, September 18, 2010 & Sunday, September 19, 2010. Mark your calendars now. Watch for events throughout 2010.
In 1910 Flora Grange No. 1762 was organized. A new hall was built on Stone
Quarry Road in 1946 due to the condition of the old Grange building. On October 12, 1978 a fire
caused approximately $35,000 in damage to the Grange Hall. The insurance company totaled the
building so the Grange demolished it and rebuilt a new wood structure. On April 18, 1980 the
new building was dedicated. Pancake, chicken and roast beef dinners were served to pay for the
hall.
Flora Grange is a local chapter of the National Grange based in Washington D.C., a family community-service organization. Flora Grange serves the greater Belvidere/Boone County area. Flora Grange hall is located 3 miles south of bypass 20 at 2105 Stone Quarry Rd (Appleton Rd).
